Expected outcomes

1. Increased awareness and sharing of knowledge and experience on the key issues needs to be put in place to increase the competitiveness of the advanced biofuels industry, biorefinery and value chain;

2. Briefing on the existing and emerging technologies and the potential role to improve the economic and environmental sustainability of advanced biofuels, biorefineries and its impact on the development of new biobased industry;

3. An update on the sustainability issues, standards and their role in minimizing the environmental and social risks;

4. Sharing of knowledge and lessons learned from other ongoing initiatives in the area of biofuels promoted by international organizations and European bodies (JRC EC, CEI) targeting the synergies among various initiatives and their concentration in the CEE region

• Recommendations on the way forward taking into account the harmonized regional approach;
• Support to the regional CEI network focused on the topics of Advanced Biofuels which will be also used for proper dissemination of the results of the workshop;
• Strengthening of collaboration of CEE countries with JRC and EC and the efficient use of the JRC expertise in the research institutions in CEE countries.
